DIamond Market Report
Diamond trading markets buoyed by robust activity and positive sentiment emanating from this month’s all-important trade show in Las Vegas. The encouraging aspect of the strong activity at the show was the return of U.S. retailers to the buy-side of the market while demand from Asian buyers remained strong. Very strong demand for squares and rounds in 0.75-1.2ct size range in better colors and qualities and large well made stones are very hot. Recent DTC sight valued at around $500 million with an average price increase of three to five percent. At the very high end of the market strong prices continue to be fetched for unique and special stones on the international auction market.

Famed Archduke Joseph Diamond Up For Sale
The famous 17th century Archduke Joseph Diamond, which has been a part of the jewellery collection of the Hapsburg dynasty for well over 200 years, is up for sale.
The 76-carat diamond takes its name from Archduke Joseph August (1872-1962), a prince of the Hungarian line of the Hapsburg dynasty.
According to media reports, the soon-be-be-held auction is garnering much interest in India, and local diamond industry sources said they were hopeful that the famed diamond, harvested from the legendary Golconda mines in Andhra Pradesh, would be coming back home to India.
The 76-carat Golconda Diamond has been offered for sale to three selected diamond concessionaires – one in Europe, one in the US and India's 140 year-old Bangalore-based jewellery house C Krishnaiah Chetty & Sons.
Keeping the high price of the diamond in mind, the jewellery house has also been working on creating consortiums, trusts or the concept of shared ownership. They are hopeful that this may result in the diamond traveling back to its home country.
The other famed stone in the possession of the Hapsburgs, also a Golconda, was the Florentine Diamond, which is light yellow in color.

Christie's Jewelry Sale Sees Favorable Turnout
London-base auction house Christie's saw a good turnout of buyers for its latest jewelry auction, Diamond World reported.
The jewelry auction sold 79% of the lots offered, to realized revenue of $6.6 million.
According to the auction house, the piece on display included a wide variety of mid-ninth to the 21st century jewelry, and the fine-quality diamonds, natural pearls and signed jewels proved to grab buyers' attention.
The sale’s top lot was a 14.85-carat, rectangular-cut D, VS1 diamond ring by Bulgari, which fetched $1.1 million.
Cartier jewelry proved as favorable as ever: a whimsical Cartier squirrel brooch fetched $36,346, a 7.07-carat, E, VS2 Cartier diamond ring sold for $487,326, and a pair of heart-shaped, diamond ear studs by Boucheron were sold for $331,266.

May CPI Up 0.4%
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose 0.4% in May, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported. CBS figures were in line with analysts' expectations.
Since the beginning of 2010, the Consumer Prices Index has risen by just 0.4%, noting a 3% rise over the past 12 months – the upper band of the government's target.
CBS figures also indicated that inflation rates in May was heavily influenced by housing prices, which added 0.9%, while the price of fresh produce soared 10.5%.
Clothing prices rose 3.6% in May, while gasoline was up 1.1%. Overseas travel added 2% more due to the weakness of the shekel against the dollar.

Message from the President
Dear Customers,
We are coming off a very successful Las Vegas show where it was a real treat for us to see many of our clients and colleagues under the same roof. The market is in a very good shape especially in comparison to this time last year and buyers are now accepting the higher prices. I was once again very proud to see our jewelry grace the covers of the leading fashion magazines with supermodel Stephanie Passavant adorning our drop earrings and stunning oval shaped platinum diamond ring on last month’s InFront magazine.
On the topic of public exposure, the Julius Klein Group was very proud to be a sponsor of the AGS Conclave held in Boston in April this year, whereby we participated in the informative presentation sessions as well as being able to dazzle the attendees with the display of some of our stunning jewelry on models.
We look forward to assisting our clients with all their diamond buying needs through the summer months and into the lead-up to the Holiday Season.

About Us
For over three decades, Julius Klein - Eliaz Diamonds has been internationally recognized as one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of exceptional quality diamonds. Julius Klein-Eliaz Diamonds is based in Israel’s diamond exchange and is an affiliated company of the Julius Klein Group, one of the best known names in the global diamond industry and a De Beers’ Diamond Trading Company (DTC) Sightholder client.
The company first opened its doors in Tel Aviv, Israel on 1980. Established by Mr. Azri Garty, the company commenced as a buying agent and after a few years began its manufacturing operations. In 1995 Eliaz was promoted to be the DTC sightholder client. Since inception, the company has grown into a multinational business and was named one of Israel’s top 30 exporters in 2003 by the office of Israel’s diamond comptroller under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Employment.
All manufacturing is done in-house across our global manufacturing infrastructure network spanning Tel Aviv, New York, Johannesburg and Windhoek. We employ the highest level of master craftsmanship fused with the latest and most sophisticated manufacturing technologies. Our stock includes round and fancy shapes from 0.30 carats up to 50.00 carats, in a wide variety of colors and clarity grades and a very large inventory of GIA, HRD & IGI certificates.
The factor that differentiates us from other diamond manufacturing companies is our unmatched ability to provide fast & effective solutions to all diamond buying needs of our customers. This is done by continually holding a significant inventory as well as having sales offices in Tel Aviv, Hong Kong, Antwerp, New York and Beverly Hills. Julius Klein-Eliaz Diamonds is perhaps best known for its large and important diamonds, particularly for diamonds of two carats and above, where there is probably no other diamond company in the world today with a more substantial inventory.
Julius Klein - Eliaz Diamonds participates as an exhibitor at every important trade show throughout the year including those in Hong Kong, Macao, Mumbai, Dubai, Las Vegas and Basel.
Being in the diamond business for three decades, we believe that our success is very much a direct consequence of our customers’ success. |
